All of Hawaii has a structural problem that goes back to the founding of the Territory of Hawaii, which is the base upon which our state government is built.
We are designed to be a One Party State just as the Republic of Hawaii (which had much to do with the structure of our present state government) was a One Party State.
The proof of this is shown by Hawaii being controlled by the Republican Party of Hawaii from 1904-1954 and from 1954 on its has experienced rising and now entrenched Democrat Party control except for a few brief exceptions.
The Hawaii government structure concentrates more power into fewer hands beyond any other state in the US.
One of those concertation of power governing structures is the City & County system.
Normal count structures are equally responsible for the entire area of their jurisdiction .
Within those jurisdiction in almost all of the over three thousands counties in the US are incorporated municipalities. These are the independent cities we all visit on the mainland that have the legal ability to collect property tax and govern their towns and cities in a manner they choose to defend and enhance their unique character.
This is what a government of the people looks like and the people of windward Oahu need a bold new direction to empower their hopes and dreams for a better life on the windward side
